Happy 70th Birthday Little Tony

Antonio Ciacci was born on February 9, 1941 in Tivoli, Italy. He became interested in music at a very young age thanks to his father, a singer and accordion player and his uncle a guitar player. His brothers Henry and Alberto were also singers and musicians. He performed in restaurants and dance clubs around Rome where in 1958 he was spotted by Jack Good a British impresario who convinced Tony and his brothers to go to England where they performed as Little Tony and His Brothers. He took the name Little Tony after Little Richard and became a top Rock & Roll singer in Italy during the ate 1950s and 1960s. He recorded cover versions of such rock hits as Lucille, Shake Rattle and Roll, and Johnny B. Good. Some of his songs were used in film scores. Tony returned to Italy and finished second in 1961's San Remo Festival. He’s continued to perform at the festival and had a long and successful singing career. Tony suffered a heart attack in 2006 during a tour of Canada but has since recovered completely. Tony sang the main theme song “Rainbow... vorrei... vorrei” for the Euro-western “The Longest Hunt” starring Brian Kelly, Fabrizio Moroni and Keenan Wynn. Today we celebrate Little Tony’s 70th birthday.
