Django Unchained

Will Smith Up for Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained?

May 6, 2011

Will Smith may be up for the lead in Quentin Tarantini's "Django Unchained, says a story at The Hollywood Reporter.

The script for the film was confirmed by Tarantino to have been completed last week and is said to be a spaghetti Western style story of Django, a freed American slave who teams with a German bounty hunter (a part rumored to have been written for Christoph Waltz) to save his wife from an evil plantation owner.

Smith, who hasn't appeared in a film since 2008's Seven Pounds, is currently in production on  "Men in Black III".  Whether he makes "Django Unchained his next role remains to be seen, but regardless, the movie is expected to start production this year.

  1. Biltmore: IMDB just recently listed The Angel, The Bad and the Wicked as a separate title, with Franco Nero to star.

  2. Biltmore: IMDB has delisted The Angel, The Bad and the Wise from their database. The Wicked was a typo!!!!

  3. Jamie Foxx replaced Will Smith in "Django Unchained" and most of the film was done at Melody Ranch in California as well as Texas, Tennessee, South Carolina, Wyoming, and Louisiana, the latter of which serving as a stand-in for antebellum Mississippi. Tarantino knew what he was doing. No doubt about that.
