Remembering Benito Stefanelli


Benito Stefanelli was born in Rome, Italy on September 2, 1928. Stefanelli was an Italian film actor and stuntman who made over 65 films between 1955 and 1991.
 
Benito is best known in world cinema for his roles as a henchmen in several of Sergio Leone's Spaghetti Western films, portraying gang members in the trilogy of films “A Fistful of Dollars” (1964), “For a Few Dollars More”, (1965) and the “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly” in 1966. He also appeared in the Sergio Leone picture “Once Upon a Time in the West in 1968”. In all Benito appeared in 28 Euro-westerns sometimes credited as Benny Reeves, as an actor, stuntman, assistant director, stunt coordinator and master of arms. A fluent English speaker, he also reportedly served as Clint Eastwood's interpreter on the set of “A Fistful of Dollars”.
 
The father of actor, stuntman Marco Stefanelli, Benito died on December 12, 1999 in Rome.
 
Today we remember one of the mainstays of the Euro-western Benito Stefanelli on what would have been his 85th birthday.
